Sumati dasi

In 2001, I met Tripurari Swami in Baltimore MD when he visited my friends Arcana Siddhi and Karnamrita. I was deeply moved by his presentation of Krishna Consciousness and I began regularly listening to his lectures and going to see him personally whenever he was in Baltimore and then again later in North Carolina. He inspired me to re-dedicate my life to pursuing the path of Bhakti yoga that I had embraced in the early 1970’s when I had taken initiation from Srila Prabhupada.

I first visited Saragrahi about three years ago and I fell in love with the land, the cows, the hills and valleys, the trees, the meandering creeks, the vistas and Swami’s vision for the development of a spiritual community…a manifestation of his Guru’s desire. When Dulal Chandra and Bhaktirasa invited me to move into the ashrama I was happy to do so and that was a year ago. I really like the family atmosphere and being with devotees dedicated to serving Tripurari Swami and his mission. I do a lot of different services and I was going to say that my favorite is helping to care for the two retired cows, Bhimala and Kamala, and our five month old calf, Taruni, but I equally like caring for the deities Gaura-Radha-Madhava and Krsna and Balarama. I also care for Tulasi Devi, do some cooking and work in the garden areas. My situation also affords me time for my japa meditation and study of the scriptures.

I feel really blessed to be here and am so grateful to Tripurari Swami for accepting me and allowing me to live and serve his mission here.
